Ipswich - Kalbar - Boonah - Ipswich Day Ride

Description

Queens Park is located about one km from the Ipswich CBD, on the Brisbane side. There are toilets, water and a kiosk in the park.

This is a reasonably hard 110 km, as there are many hills. The ride to Boonah is harder than the return ride along the main road. Peak Crossing has a small general store. Kalbar has a hotel and a small general store. There are toilets and water behind the Civic Centre. Boonah is a mid sized town with most facilities. The show ground incorporates a poor quality caravan park.

Scenery

Once out of Ipswich, it is mainly cattle grazing country. There is extensive cultivation around Kalbar.

Route Details

The ride is undulating till Peak Crossing. Between Peak Crossing and Boonah, many hills are encountered. Usually traffic is light. Between Boonah and Ipswich, the main road is followed. It is less hilly. On a weekend, the traffic is moderate but the road is wide enough to be bike friendly. During the week, the truck traffic on this road is heavy enough to be annoying.
