Route Details

The first 20 km is undulating, Then the route is reasonably flat through the Albert River valley. The camping area at 25 km is pleasant and usually is quiet. It is on the bank of the Albert River. The water requires boiling before drinking.

After the right turn to Hillview, is a steep long hill. Caution is required on the descent, as it is steep and the final curve is sharp. At Hillview, there is a hall, toilets and a picnic area with tables, but no drinking water. Drinking water can be obtained from a tank at the Christmas Creek Catholic church. The ride from Hillview, through Tamrookum and along Black Mountain Rd is gently undulating. The store at Tamrookum sells a good range of takeaway food. Usually, drinking water can be obtained on request. The gravel section on Black Mountain Rd is large sized gravel, but is usually in good condition and is an all-weather road. This section can be avoided by riding the highway to Josephville and then turning left on a paved road. There are a few hills on Sandy Ck Rd until the railway line is crossed and then it is mostly downhill back to Beaudesert.
